Dear Members and Guests,
It is a great honour to represent Mickleover Golf Club as your Captain for 2026. Having been a member for 9 years, I have always valued the warm "MGC Family" atmosphere, the diversity and friendliness that makes the club so special.
I would like to thank Carl Vernon and Julie for their leadership as the 2025 Captains and for the positive and fantastic work they have done for the club. My gratitude also goes to the Committee and our Club Professional for their tireless efforts of making this club what it is.
Our greens staff continue to do a fantastic job, and I am particularly excited about the new changes to the course, especially playing our newly designed 9th hole this season. I am personally looking forward to getting out on the course and playing with as many of you as possible throughout the year.
To anyone considering a visit, we warmly invite you to come and experience Mickleover for yourself. Beyond the challenges of the course, you can enjoy our clubhouse hospitality and a fantastic selection of food and drinks. Whether you are a golfer or just looking for a welcoming place for a meal with friends, a warm welcome awaits you.
Alongside our 2026 Lady Captain, Jacquie Blain, we look forward to a packed social and competitive calendar. This year, our fundraising will be split between my chosen charity, Me & Dee Charity, and the MGC Course Development Programme.
Thank you all very much for your support in advance and I look forward to seeing you all throughout 2026.
Best regards,
Bharpur Badwal
Captain 2026
I am honoured to represent Mickleover Golf Club as Lady Captain for 2026. I first joined MGC in 2013 when I started to play golf and found the club to be very welcoming. After a couple of years my husband and I moved away from Derby during which time I was a member at Lilley Brook in Cheltenham and then Oasis Country Club, Cincinnati, USA.
I rejoined MGC when we returned to Derby in 2019 and it felt like I had never been away everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
We have a really vibrant ladies group at MGC and I was especially honoured to be the Silver Team Captain in 2025 when we won the Derbyshire County Golf Ladies Interclub Trophy.
For 2026 I am looking forward to working with Di Gillatt, my Lady Vice Captain, and also with the Professional team looking for ways to help us all improve our game as well as attracting new ladies to our great club.
This year Mr Captain and I have decided to split all funds raised throughout the year between our chosen charity me&dee and the Mickleover Golf Club Course Development Programme. me&dee are a local charity based in Melbourne, Derby who are totally self-funding and their mission is to provide comfort, care and precious memories for families facing life-changing and life-limiting conditions.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for whatever support you are able and willing to provide during my year as Lady Captain. Every contribution is very much appreciated.
All the very best
Jackie Blain
